From 2015 to 2019, Project Leader / Researcher / Policy Analyst at the Foresight, Modelling, Behavioural Insights and Design For Policy Unit of JRC / Joint Research Centre, the EC / European Commission in-house science and knowledge service. Main work on EU Policy Lab and Competence Centre on Foresight with projects on cocreation and stakeholder engagement in public policy innovation, future-oriented technology analysis, digital social innovation, open science and technology, decentralized systems and distributed ledger technologies, community-led environmental monitoring, and sharing and platform economies. From 2013 to 2015, Researcher / Scientific Project Officer at the Digital Citizen Security Unit of JRC, with projects linking ethics, values in design, responsible research innovation, citizen engagement and participatory platforms to IoT, digital fabrication, and  DIY/DIT and maker communities.

Previously, Post Doc Researcher at CIES-IUL / Centre for Research and Studies in Sociology, ISCTE-IUL / University Institute of Lisbon (sponsored by David J Hess and A Firmino da Costa) with the Laboratory / Incubator of Social Ideas, Technological Creations and Entrepreneurship and coordination of COST Action IS1007 Investigating Cultural Sustainability; and Co-Coordinator and Project Manager at VFabLab-IUL / Digital Fabrication Laboratory, ISCTE-IUL, with supervision of projects as STTF2013 Summer School or programs as Choose Science: From School to University.

Prior positions as Researcher at CETCOPRA / CEntre d’ETudes des TEchniques, des COnnaissances et des PRatiques, University Paris 1 / Panthéon-Sorbonne, working on Human-Computer Interaction, AI and robotics, phenomenology, cognitive and life sciences, ethics and values in technology, and science fiction cultures; and at ISCTE-IUL, focusing on ICT studies, digital public spaces, e-democracy and e-government, identity management, and alternative and community media.

PhD in Philosophy from University Paris 1 (supervised by Philippe Breton) and PhD in Sociology from ISCTE-IUL (supervised by Hermínio Martins and JM Paquete de Oliveira); with period as Visiting Scholar at the Department of STS / Science and Technology Studies of RPI / Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (sponsored by Langdon Winner and Sharon Anderson-Gold); and research grants by FCT / Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology and Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
